State Minister of Social Welfare of Bangladesh Dipu Moni addressed concerns about misuse of allowance cards during her visit to Kumudini Hospital and Kumudini Women's Medical College on Thursday.

She reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to combating unethical practices by emphasising that strict measures will be taken against chairmen and UP members involved in extorting money under false pretenses of distributing allowance cards.

In response to questions from the media, State Minister Moni stressed the ministry's determination to combat fraud in all its manifestations, including the theft of allowance SIM cards and financial scams carried out through shady operations like cash transactions, Bkash, Nagad, Rocket and other mobile banking platforms.

She restated the ministry's initiatives to increase people's awareness and keep them from becoming victims of scams.

Expressing condolences for the late Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar, State Minister Moni lamented his demise and expressed hope for swift justice following the arrest of the accused by Indian and Bangladeshi authorities.

Later in the day, Dipu Moni served as the chief guest at a workshop jointly organised by the Palliative Care Society of Bangladesh and the Institute of Palliative Medicine of Kerala, India, at the Kumudini Complex. The event was attended by dignitaries including Kumudini Welfare Trust Managing Director Rajiv Prasad Saha, Director Pratibha Mutshuddi, Mrs. Saha, Shampa Saha, and Kumudini Hospital Director Dr Pradeep Kumar Saha.

Following the workshop, Minister Moni launched the 'Compassionate Kumudini' initiative, aimed at educating families of disabled individuals about palliative care through community-based outreach efforts.
