Digital skills training prog ends at Islamic University

The closing ceremony of the 'Digital Skills for Student Training Programme' under the Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) project was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia yesterday.

The event took place at the Ibn Sina Science Building in the morning, organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) implemented the programme as part of its ongoing digital capacity-building efforts for students.

Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah attended the event as the chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeaqub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam were present as special guests.

Prof Dr Munjurul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, also attended the programme.

Prof Dr Robiul Hoque, Chairman of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, presided over the programme, while Prof Dr Farukuzzaman Khan acted as the programme coordinator.

The event began with recitations from religious scriptures. Guests were welcomed with flowers, and certificates were distributed among successful trainees.

A total of 1,200 students from various departments and nearby educational institutions in Kushtia enrolled in the programme. Among them, 978 successfully completed the training and received certificates.

In his speech, Prof Dr Md Robiul Hoque congratulated the trainees for their efforts and dedication. He hoped the training would greatly support their future studies and careers.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, in his address, emphasized the importance of developing digital skills alongside academic knowledge. He noted, "Information is the first step to understanding. When processed, it becomes knowledge — and it takes skill to apply that knowledge effectively." The event ended with a vote of thanks and photo session.
