Digital certificates and smart cards have been distributed among the brave freedom fighters of Chattogram city.
On this occasion, Chattogram District Administration organized a meeting on Thursday morning at Circuit House.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Mahmud Ullah Maruf presided over the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman was the chief guest on the occasion. Chattogram Metropolitan Awami League Acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury and Mahanagar Muktijodha Sangsad Commander Bir Muktijodha Mozaffar Ahmed were special guests.
In the event, the Deputy Commissioner handed over digital certificates and smart cards to all wartime commanders of the metropolis, all officers of metropolitan units, all police station commanders, and brave freedom fighters of all levels.
The wartime commanders were respectively the freedom fighter Abdullah Al-Harun, freedom fighter Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, freedom fighter Mohammad Elias, freedom fighter Mohammad Hossain, freedom fighter Sahabuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, freedom fighter Abu Saeed Sardar freedom fighter Zahid Hossain, freedom fighter M. Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Deputy Commander of Mahanagar Muktijoddha Sangsad, freedom fighter Shahidul Haque Chowdhury Syed, Assistant Commander freedom fighter Sadhan Chandra Biswas, Assistant Commander freedom fighter Manjurul Alam Manju, Assistant Commander freedom fighter Abul Kashem, freedom fighter Ahmadur Rahman Siddiqui, freedom fighter Osman Gani, freedom fighter Md. Harish, freedom fighter Shaukat Hafiz Khan Rumu, freedom fighter Arun Das, freedom fighter SM Jagir Hossain Mizan, freedom fighter Nurul Bashar and various police station commanders, deputy commanders, assistant commanders and brave freedom fighters of all levels.
In the ceremony, the brave freedom fighters led by the commander of the Mahanagar Muktijoddha Sangsad Muzaffar Ahmed handed over a commemorative photo to the Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said, brave freedom fighters are the best asset of the country and nation. They should be respected. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has undertaken various programs for the welfare of the brave freedom fighters. The current government has created various honors and opportunities including increasing the honorarium of the brave freedom fighters, burial with state dignity. Even after 50 years of independence, the Mujib centenary is being honoured today by distributing digital certificates and smart cards. A certificate and ID card have increased the value and privileges of freedom fighters. This is possible because the Awami League government is in power.
8080 digital certificates and 4102 smart ID cards are sent here. Of which 327 are alive in the city, 225 are dead. A total of 552 people in the city and other upazilas. The dead freedom fighters will only get certificates, not smart cards.
