The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources announced a reduction in diesel and kerosene prices by Tk1 per litre, now set at Tk106.75 from the previous Tk107.75.

This adjustment, effective from Monday, aims to align with global market trends under the government's monthly price adjustment

mechanism. In contrast, petrol remains priced at Tk127 per litre, while octane stays at Tk131, maintaining continuity from the previous month's rates as per the ministry's notification issued and published on their website on Sunday night. The ministry clarified that despite a slight dip in global fuel prices, the costs of importing fuel rose due to the devaluation of the Bangladeshi Taka against the US dollar. This adjustment follows a series of monthly fluctuations since March, where diesel and kerosene prices saw increments earlier this year before the recent reduction.

In June, diesel and kerosene prices were increased by Tk0.75 per litre, while petrol and octane saw hikes of Tk2.5 per litre.

The previous adjustments in May also saw increases, whereas March and April witnessed decreases in fuel prices in response to global market conditions.
