Diarrhoea, pneumonia patients on rise in Chuadanga

The number of patients suffering from diarrhea and pneumonia are increasing in Chuadanga at an abnormal rate over heavy cold wave.

In the last seven days, 270 patients, including women and children, have been admitted to the hospital due to diarrhea.  However154 pneumonia patients in the children's ward have been admitted to the hospital in the last one week.

A child died of respiratory distress in the children's ward. The deceased is identified as daughter of Alamgir-Mita of Hanurbaradi village is Sadar Upazila of the district.

    According to the sources of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, 41 patients are admitted in diarrhea ward on December 27 night. Besides, more than two hundred patients with diarrhea, including women, men and children, were treated in the hospital's outdoor treatment from morning to noon.

    It learnt,  Sadar Hospital has not enough space in the designated diarrhea ward of the hospital, so the patient has to be treated on the floor of the corridor. Doctors say that the number of diarrhea patients is increasing day by day due to climate change. 

     Dr Ataur Rahman, Superintendent of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said, "Due to the change of weather, the number of patients suffering from diarrhea and pneumonia are increasing. At this time parents need to give more importance to children. If you avoid unhealthy food and wash your hands well before eating and drink water regularly, it is possible to stay away from this disease. The hospital has sufficient supplies of cholera and food saline for the patients suffering from diarrhoea.
