In the Chandra area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Kaliakair in Gazipur, an overflowing crowd of passengers can be seen this Eid centered on Eid-ul-Azha. From Thursday morning, the passengers are rushing to return home.

According to North Bengal-bound passengers, district police, highway police sources, the Kaliakair Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur is one of the busiest highways in the country.

Gazipur is now the second largest industrial area in the region after Dhaka. As a result, the number of dense settlements in Gazipur and Dhaka city is very high. Every year during the Eid holidays, millions of passengers from around 24 districts travel on this highway to their homes to celebrate Eid with their family members.

However, this Eid, the picture of this highway has been completely reversed. There is comparatively less traffic jam. The construction of 5 flyover bridges and 5 footover bridges on all the highways on this highway has reduced traffic congestion and road accidents in many parts. Many ordinary passengers have said that they can go home in relief. On the one hand, district police, highway police, white-clad police are working shoulder to shoulder at 20 points in Chandra to Safipur, Chandra to Nabinagar and Chandra to Kharajora areas of the upazila to make the Eid journey a success.

This time the main goal of the police force is to ensure that no passenger falls into the hands of a bandage, snatcher and thief in any way. The signboard has been placed with 120 points of caution. About 320 police forces including district police and highway police are working on this highway. If a car is involved in a road accident on the highway, it falls on the road. He was immediately rescued by a wrecker and taken to a safe place. And arrangements have been made to make the messenger road-friendly. In addition, a first aid center has been set up at Chandra Trimor at the initiative of Khwaja Badruddoza Modern Hospital of Dr. Bakhtiyar and in coordination with the police to provide immediate care to any passenger who falls ill.

Arrangements have been made to treat patients with minor ailments, including diabetes tests, blood tests, and high blood pressure tests. Also, no vehicles without Nachimon, Karimon, Badbody, license and fitness were allowed on the highway. However, due to some autorickshaws and CNG, the slow speed of the vehicles was noticed. Apart from long distance vehicles, passengers are trying to reach their respective destinations by cattle trucks, pick-ups, private cars and CNG. Passengers have to go home at any cost.

Salma Akhter, a passenger returning to Rangpur on Eid, said that this time the traffic congestion is less. I have been waiting for the car for 3 hours. Looks like cars are less on the road. However, the car owners are taking double the opportunity.

Rafiqul Islam, a passenger from North Bengal, said, "Brother, I don't have a car. How long will I be sitting?" The road is empty. Now it would work if I got a car.

To handle these conditions and make the Eid journey a success, Salna Highway Police (OC) Firoz Hossain told Daily Sangbad that district police, highway police and 320 white-clad police forces are working for this year's Eid. In addition, our white-clad police are working at 20 important points. So that the passengers can reach their respective destinations without any untoward incident and enjoy the joy of Eid with family transport.

Additional IGP of Highway Police Mallick Fakhrul Islam said that the Highway Police is working with caution and responsibility on the highway. If a transport charges extra, our mobile court team will take legal action. Necessary steps have also been taken to ensure that passengers do not suffer any kind of traffic jam and suffering.
