Three bogies of a freight train have derailed at Tongi in Gazipur. As a result, train movement on Dhaka-Chattogram route has been stopped. The train derailed around 11 am on Tuesday, said station master Md Halimuzzaman of airport railway station.
He said the Dhaka-bound freight train from Chittagong derailed when it reached Tongi area. As a result, the railway communication between Dhaka and Chittagong was cut off. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The station master said that the higher authorities have been informed to normalize the train movement. A rescue train will be sent to the spot soon.
