People of Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur are restless due to constant power outage. In extreme heat, children are at risk of catching colds and coughs. Even if there is no electricity during the day, the load shedding increases at night. Extreme anger is prevailing in the public. Many people have complained that the power problem in Dewanganj is not new today but this situation has been going on for the last few years but this time it has taken a terrible shape.
Abdur Rakib, a lecturer in the economics department of Kamil Madrasa in Dewanganj and a prominent businessman, said that the business is being severely affected due to load shedding in Dewanganj. This situation cannot continue. He urged the direct intervention of the MP and the attention of the journalists.
Sonali Bank Dewanganj Bazar Branch Manager Md. Russell Mahmud said that due to load shedding, banking activities are being severely disrupted and computers used in office work are being damaged. He asked the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and his personal officer to inform authorities about the matter.
Rahebur Rahman, AGM of Palli Bidyut Dewanganj sub-zonal branch, said that due to low generation, the voltage of electricity is very low, so one line is kept closed and the other line is kept running and that is the reason for this situation. Moreover, this is one of the reasons for load shedding in many places when the line has to be closed due to heavy rains. In 2026, there will be a national grid in Taratia, then there will be no problem.
