Deputy Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces General Abdul Rahman Nasr Abdullah Al-Nasr on Sunday called on Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed at the Army Headquarters in the capital Dhaka.
According to the ISPR, the other member of the delegation team was Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Ghanem Al Qubaisi, Director of Qatar Military Decorations and Medals Directorate.
During the courtesy call, both of them had emphasized on the areas of mutual development between the armed forces of the two brotherly countries.
The delegation of the Qatar Armed Forces also paid a courtesy call on Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Department Lt. Gen. Waqar-uz-Zaman.
In the courtesy call, mutual friendship between Bangladesh and Qatar and strengthening bilateral relations in the defense sector were discussed.
Qatar is a developed and influential country in the Middle East. Bangladesh and Qatar recently signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation. At the same time, the implementing agreement regarding the deputation of members from the Bangladesh Armed Forces to the Qatar Armed Forces was signed. Following this, senior officials of the Bangladesh Armed Forces visited Qatar.
It is mentionable that in order to strengthen and consolidate defense relations between Bangladesh and Qatar, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division had invited a delegation of Qatar Armed Forces to visit Bangladesh. Following the invitation, a delegation led by Major General Abdul Rahman Al Nasr of the Qatar Armed Forces is currently visiting Bangladesh.
During the visit, the delegation will also meet the defense adviser and senior military officials . The team will visit various training facilities, defense industry and other related establishments.
The relationship between the armed forces of the two countries will be strengthened in the defense sector.
The Qatari delegation team will visit various military cloth manufacturing industries run by the Army Welfare Organization in Bangladesh and will discuss the possibility of importing such cloths from Bangladesh. This visit of the Qatari delegation team is expected to play an important role in the development of mutual relations between the two countries.
