Renowned folk singer Islam Uddin Palakar, known for his captivating performances of regional folk songs, has stepped into the world of cinema with his latest venture.

Palakar's debut in cinema comes as he lends his soulful voice to a playback track titled "Biye Keno Holo Na" for Ahmmed Humayun's upcoming film, "Potu." A teaser of the song was recently unveiled on the official Facebook page of Jaaz Multimedia, the film's production house. The full song is scheduled for release on Jaaz Multimedia's Facebook page and YouTube channel, coinciding with the film's theatrical release on the upcoming Eid holiday.

Palakar gained widespread recognition after his successful rendition of the song "Deora" in Coke Studio Bangla's second season alongside singer Pritom Hasan, which appealed not only to his existing fan base but also to younger audiences.

Expressing his thoughts on this new venture, Palakar shared, "This is my first time singing for a film. Although it's different from what I usually do, I'm drawn to its reflection of our cultural traditions." He emphasized his comfort with folk and regional music genres and expressed openness to singing for cinema as long as the songs aligned with his style.

Director Ahmmed Humayun praised the song's lyrics and melody, noting its historical significance dating back nearly 300 years. He highlighted Palakar's collaboration with Rupak Tiary from West Bengal, who composed the music and expressed confidence that Palakar's voice would enhance the authenticity of the film's narrative.

Palakar's foray into cinema marks a new chapter in his illustrious musical career, with "Biye Keno Holo Na" poised to resonate with audiences for its blend of traditional Bengali music and cinematic storytelling.
