Demo staged protesting opposition to Bangabandhu’s sculpture

Gopalganj Awami League held a protest rally in the district town on Friday morning in protest of BNP-Jamaat's opposition for constructing the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the spread of confusion by religious groups.

Awami League leaders and activists gathered in front of the district Awami League office with processions one after another from different places of the district.  Later at 10 am, a huge protest rally led by Mahbub Ali Khan, General Secretary of district Awami League, came out with various slogans and marched to the local municipal park after parading various important roads of the district town.

Gopalganj District Awami League President Freedom Fighter Chowdhury Emdadul Haque presided over the programme, while District Juba League Publicity and Publication Secretary Shimul Chowdhury conducted it. 

Mahbub Ali Khan, General Secretary of district Awami League, Senior Vice-Presodent Sheikh Ruhul Amin, Mayor Kazi Liaquat Ali and others spoke at the time.

Speakers said that the Pakistani ally BNP-Jamaat is still roaming free in Bangladesh. That is why they are opposing the construction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's sculpture. 

They demanded construction of sculptures of Father of the Nation in all districts of the country by bringing the opposition under the law at the time.
