Although 25 corona patients were identified on a single day in Thakurgaon, there were no new infections of coronavirus in Thakurgaon district since the last two days. The Thakurgaon Health Department said that no corona patient was identified as no test results were obtained. Due to this, the demand for setting up PCR lab in the district is getting stronger.

According to the Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon’s Office, 92 samples were collected and sent to the M Abdur Rahim Medical College Lab in Dinajpur but no report was received. Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Subrata Kumar Sen confirmed the matter on Thursday morning. He said a maximum of 188 samples can be tested in one day at Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College PCR Lab.

However, 400 to 500 samples are being collected and sent from Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur. He said the test conduction was not possible due to sending more samples than the capacity.

Due to this, there has been a storm of criticism on social media platforms among Thakuragon residents. Md. Abdul Latif wrote on his Facebook status that the samples sent from Thakurgaon to Dinajpur were not tested in two days.

Rezwanul Haque Riju demanded to set up PCR lab in Thakurgaon on an emergency basis. The same demand was made by Anisur  Rahman Mithu and many others. So far 122 corona patients have been identified in Thakurgaon. 36 people returned home after recovering. Two people have died due to corona.

Meanwhile on May 21, to verify the possibility of setting up a PCR lab in Thakurgaon, Professor of the Department of Microbiology, Jahangirnagar University and Treasurer of Pabna School of Science and Technology, Dr. Anwar Khasru Parvez exchanged views with the health department in Thakurgaon.
