Due to delay in construction of Prime Minister's Priority basis Development Project, Tk 2,500,000 fund allocated for the construction of four storied Sarankhola Ideal School may return to the concerned ministry.

It is learnt that, aiming to develop the quality of education in remote Sundarban areas, the then UNO of Sarankhola KM Mamunuzzaman had established Sarankhola Ideal Institute in 2012. Later, the Prime Minister allocated 90 decimals of Khas land for the school.

More than five hundred students from the play group to class ten have been studying in this school.

On March-9, 2020 the Department of Education Engineering in Bagerhat had published a tender amounting Tk 8,500,000 for the construction of the ground floor of the building.

On October 24, 2020 local Member of Parliament Amirul Islam Milon of Begerhat constituency laid the foundation of the bldg. Later on, Tk 1,500,000 more was allocated for the construction of the second floor and the third floor of the building.

However, due to occupying the land of the proposed building illegally by three families, the construction farm failed to start work on the construction of the building.

Though the Upazila Administration has offered those three families to shift them in new houses made on the occasion of the celebration of Muijb centenary, a vested quarter was instigating those families not to leave the land.

As a result of failure to start the construction works by the concerned farm, the allocated money for this purpose may be returned to the concerned ministry.

Usman Gani, Principal of Ideal Institute is informed that if the occupied land could not be freed and work of construction of the building is not started within a short time, the entire allocated money may be returned to the concerned ministry.

Nafiz Akhter, Executive Engineer of LGED, Bagerhat informed that the contractors failed to start their work as they did not get free space. But the tenure of work order has lapsed that is why the allocated money should be returned to the concerned ministry.

UNO Khatune Jannat informed, for the last three-year those three families have been requested to shift their houses and they have also been offered government houses on the occasion of the Mujib Borsho. But they are obstinate for unknown reasons.
