Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) in a drive on Thursday arrested a death penalty awarded fugitive convict from Gawsia area in Rupganj upazila.
The arrested was identified as Ebadullah Haq, 43, son of Fazlu Mia, resident of Tawra under Rupganj police station in the district.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-03, judge Mohammad Aminul Haq handed down on February 29, 2024 death penalty to lone accused Ebadullah Haq for killing his 8-month pregnant wife, Lipi Akter.
According to the prosecution story, the accused tortured his wife to death on January 05, 2000 at his residence.
After the killing, deceased's father Nozumuddin filed a murder case with Rupganj police station accusing only Ebadul.
The media officer of RAB-11 additional police super Sonod Borua confirmed the information to the media.
