Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) formed a human chain at the Muktir More crossing in Naogaon on 29 March morning in protest against the death of Sultana Jasmine, Office Assistant of Chandipur Land Office at Naogoan in RAB custody and demanding a proper investigation of the incident.

Meanwhile, it is learnt, after the arrest of Jasmine Sultana, Office Assistant of Chandipur Land Office of Naogaon, by RAB, her becoming ill after RAB custody, her admission to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and her subsequent death at the hospital and her funeral, all these were performed under the supervision of RAB  officials. None of the relatives of Jasmine was present during these four-day of activities. All official documents in connection with the process have been signed by the RAB officials as well though, for the legal procedural rules, some of the docs have been signed by police officials.

It is further alleged, some relatives of Jasmine wanted to meet her but they were kept under strict police vigilance. During driving Jasmine to RMCH from Naogaon on RAB microbes, Jasmine's condition deteriorated.

Nazmul Haque Montu, former Ward Councillor and maternal uncle of Jasmine informed, after the arrest of Jasmine on Wednesday noon, her son was informed of her illness over the phone and he was directed to arrive at Naogaon General Hospital. Getting the call, he rushed to the hospital and watched saline being pushed to her mother.

He (the son of Jasmine) tried to talk to her mother but she failed to utter any word. A number of RAB personnel were attending Jasmine at the hospital.

As the physical condition of Jasmine deteriorated, she was brought to RMCH in a RAB vehicle around 9-00 PM on March-22. RAB members also admitted Jasmine to the RMCH. Jasmine's brother-in-law Aminul was attending to her at the RAB vehicle.

It is alleged, Aminul was kept under strict RAB vigilance and later two more relatives of Jasmine and her son Shahed Hossain Saikat arrived at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital but none of them was allowed to nurse Jasmine during this time by attending RAB members. At first Jasmine was admitted to ward-8 of RMCH. The name of the patient has been registered as-' Sultana Jasmine C/O-Shahed, village-RAB-5, but after the death of Jasmine, it was rewritten at the death register as-' Jasmine, C/O-Monowar Hossain, village-Haji Monsur Road, Khas Naogaon, Naogaon Sadar. The date of the renewed registry is on-24.03.2023. Even the phone number which has been written in the register belonged to a female RAB member.

After her death at ICU, authorities of RMCH informed Rajpara police about the post-mortem of the dead body when none of the relatives was present there. Even, the mobile phone number given at the death register belonged to an SI of RAB stationed at RAB-5 who identified himself as Masum Billah and said he was not present at the hospital on that day and someone might have given his mobile number at the register.

It is learnt, on March-23 Director ( Joint Secretary) of LGED Enamul Haque filed a case under DSA against Al Amin, a resident of the Gazibari area under Haimchar police station under Chandpur district and Office staff of Chandipur Land Office of Naogaon Sultana Jasmine under Rajpara police station for allegedly hacking Facebook ID of Enamul Haque and realising Taka 19 lakh by offering jobs of some unemployed persons. He also informed the incident RAB members. Later, RAB members arrested Jasmine from Muktir More area under Naogaon town at 11-50 AM on March-23. Enamul Haque was also present during the RAB operation.

The autopsy report of Sultana Jasmine has not been completed. Dr Kafil Uddi, Head of Forensic Deptt of RMCH informed the cause of death of Jasmine has been mentioned as bleeding in the brain and heart failure. Heart of Jasmine has also been tested and after getting the pathological report, three physicians will hold a meeting to finalise the report. It would take four to five-day more times, he added.
