Daudkandi Model Police Station has recorded significant success in recovering narcotics and firearms and apprehending accused individuals in various cases over the past two months, following the appointment of Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sajedul Islam Palash.
According to police sources, during anti-narcotics and anti-arms operations conducted between 5 July and 5 September, police seized 124,966 Yaba tablets, 727.4 kg of cannabis, 1,575 bottles of Fairdil syrup, 1,201 bottles of Phensedyl/Skaff syrup, six bottles of vodka, two foreign pistols, and five rounds of ammunition.
During this period, police arrested 286 individuals, including 58 in narcotics cases, 94 under arrest warrants, 56 in robbery cases, 28 muggers and thieves, and 75 in other cases.
Earlier, former OC Abdul Bari was closed following allegations against a sub-inspector of Daudkandi Model Police Station regarding the sale of cannabis. Subsequently, Inspector Mohammad Sajedul Islam Palash assumed charge as Officer-in-Charge on 5 July.
Following his takeover, police intensified anti-drug drives, intercepting multiple large drug shipments and recovering significant quantities of narcotics. Within a month of assuming office, OC Palash was named the best OC in Comilla district.
The police operations have drawn positive responses from locals, with residents expressing appreciation across public spaces and social media platforms.
When contacted via telephone, OC Mohammad Sajedul Islam Palash stated that under the directive of Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman, Daudkandi Model Police Station is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. He added that widespread cooperation has been received from both the administration and local residents in curbing crime and drug trafficking.
He emphasised that police require continued cooperation from citizens across all walks of life, including civil society, to maintain law and order.
Finally, OC Palash credited the achievements to the sincerity, dedication, hard work, and professionalism of all officers and personnel serving at Daudkandi Model Police Station, affirming that drives against drugs, terrorism, robbery, and mugging will continue. #EK
