Daily corona deaths decline to 12

The total death toll at the Corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital rises to 183 from June 1 to June 18 with the death of 12 more patients during the last 24-hour period of Friday. With this the daily number of death decreased in the district as compared to the previous day.

Director of RMCH Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani informed that among the dead patients in last 24-hour, five are from Rajshahi, two from Natore and Chapainawabganj and three are from Naogaon district. 

The total death toll of the month (June-1 to 18) with Friday's death stands at 183. He further informed, the number of total admitted patients at the hospital during the same period has decreased to 41 as against 44 on Thursday while 55 left the hospital after being cured. The total number of admitted patients taking treatment at the Corona unit was 349 on Friday which were 358 the previous day. 

Meanwhile, a report from Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi, shows that by testing samples of 367 persons, Coronavirus was detected among 161 persons of Rajshahi at two PCR labs of RMCH during the last 24-hour period. The rate of detection of Coronavirus among people was, thus, 43.87 percent as against 41.50 percent the previous day.  However, in three districts of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Naogaon, Covid-19 infection was detected among 220 people by testing 561 samples during the same time.  

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 13,657 in Rajshahi, including 11,074 in its city, 3,429 in Chapainawabganj, 3,287 in Naogaon, 2,577 in Natore, 2,677 in Joypurhat, 12,757 in Bogura, 3,978 in Sirajganj and 3,527 in Pabna.

A total of 78,232 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 73,200 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,10,912 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8 last. Of them, 10 people including 6 females took the second jabs in Bogura district of the division on Tuesday last.
