Cylinder blast on trawler: death toll rises 6

Three more fishermen, who suffered burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion on a trawler in Cox's Bazar, succumbed to their wounds on Tuesday (September 5).

The deceased – Shaheen, Rahim Ullah, and Arman – were undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

CMC Hospital's Director Brigadier General Shamim Ahsan said that a fisherman who was burnt due to cylinder explosion in Cox's Bazar died in the ICU while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital.  50 percent of his body was burnt in the fire.  It also damages the airways.  Two more burn victims are undergoing treatment in the ICU and one in the ward.

 Earlier, on Friday, a gas cylinder exploded in a fishing trawler named FB Lucky anchored at Nunyarchhara Jetty No. 6 in Cox's Bazar.  12 fishermen were burnt.  Later they were admitted to CMC Hospital.

 Among them, Ayub Ali and Osman Gani died in Dhaka's Sheikh Hasina Burn Unit on September 2 and Osman Gani while undergoing treatment at CMC Hospital on September 3.  All the victims lived in Kutubdiapara and Samitipara of ward No. 1 of Cox's Bazar city.
