The Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) placed a wreath at the university's central Shahid Minar on Tuesday morning in memory of the martyrs killed in the July Uprising.
On behalf of the CVASU family, the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Lutfur Rahman paid tribute to the martyrs killed in the July Uprising by placing flowers at the Shahid Minar. Teachers, students, officers and employees of the university were present at the time.
CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman called on the current government to restore democracy by holding national elections as soon as possible.
He said, ‘If we want to implement the purpose for which the martyrs gave their lives in the July mass uprising, then we must hold elections immediately and restore democracy. Therefore, I will ask the current government to arrange for elections as soon as possible through some basic reforms. Restore the right of people to vote.’
Sivasu Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Alam and Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
Other programmes organised on the occasion of the July commemoration included a special prayer meeting and distribution of Tabarak.
