A team from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) represented Bangladesh at the SAAgeNet Knowledge Exchange and Training Visit-2025 program, organized by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), UK. The delegation also participated in the Cognitive Frailty Interdisciplinary Network (CFIN) workshop, held jointly by SAAgeNet and Lancaster University.

The Bangladeshi team was led by Professor Dr. Ferdousi Akhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology. Other participants included Assistant Professor Mohammad Mojibul Haque, Assistant Professor Taslima Ahmed, and Lecturer Sultana Jannat Pami. The workshop took place recently in Cambridge and Writtle, UK, and featured various scientific sessions and exchanges of experiences among experts from South Asia and the UK.

During the program, the CVASU delegation delivered a presentation on “Ageing and Planetary Health,” highlighting the impact of age-related health issues and environmental change. Bangladesh has now officially joined CFIN as part of the SAAgeNet collaborative research network. The delegation expressed hope for stronger cooperation among South Asian countries—including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia—and the UK.

The workshop also included visits to ARU’s Cambridge and Writtle campuses and discussions on preparing new project proposals. Experts said the collaboration is expected to significantly enhance international-quality research, knowledge exchange, teacher skill development, and multilateral cooperation.

Professor Dr. Akhtar emphasized that this initiative will play a pivotal role in shaping future research and policy-making in the field of healthy aging in Bangladesh, opening new opportunities for academic and scientific advancement.
