CVASU holds seminar on livestock production

Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) arranged a seminar on the progress of research project on increasing the production of livestock in the hilly region. 

Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Gautam Buddha Das was the chief guest at the seminar held at the conference room of the university's administrative building on Thursday.

The seminar was chaired by CVASU Director (Research and Extension) Prof Dr M Alamgir Hossain, while Dean of Fisheries Science Dr M Nurul Absar Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Food Science & Technology Dr. Jannatara Khatun and Bandarban District Livestock Officer Anisur Rahman were present, among others. 

CVASU Genetics and Animal Breeding Department Chief Professor Dr. Gauz Mia delivered the welcome address.

The research project is being conducted in the remote areas of Bandarban and Khagrachari financed by the Agricultural Research Foundation (KGF) and supervised by CVASU Professor Dr. Kabirul Islam Khan. The villagers in the area are enjoying the benefits of the project through rearing of poultry, hens and goats.

It will cost around Tk 5.5 crore to implement. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gautam Buddha Das expressed optimism at the seminar that the process of rearing of chickens, goats and sheep in the hilly areas would continue with the cooperation of CVASU.

Co-ordinator Professor Dr Kabirul Islam Khan gave a presentation at the seminar on the progress of the project, Director of the Poultry Research and Training Center at CVASU Prof. Dr. Paritosh Kumar Biswas.
