CuU passes budget of Tk 42-cr

Cumilla University (CuU) has placed its budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The university announced the budget of Tk 42 crore and 17 lakh.  Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Prof Dr. Emran Kabir Chowdhury on Monday presided over the 73rd syndicate meeting of the university where the budget was passed. 

Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, Director of the Department of Finance and Accounts Department, announced the budget. Earlier on June 19, the Finance Committee (FC) meeting approved the proposed budget.

In the proposed budget, the university will get Tk 7 crore from its own sector and Tk 34 crore and 54 lakh taka from the University Grants Commission (UGC). Initial status of Tk 10 lakh and the remaining Tk 53 lakh was considered as a potential deficit.

The budget has been allocated for the salary and allowances of teachers and employees of 26 crores and 80 lakhs taka. That is 63.6 percent of the total budget. Apart from this, 16 lakhs have been allocated in IQAC sector for improvement of education. Meanwhile, only one crore taka has been allocated in the research sector. Which is 2.3 percent of the total budget.
