Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has said that the Mongla Custom House is in the process of modernisation, Like the customs office, the customs intelligence office will also be shifted from Khulna to Mongla if the activities of the customs in Mongla are fully increased, he added.
He said these in response to a question from reporters after inaugurating Mongla Custom House office at Mongla of Bagerhat on Saturday.
In his speech, Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem said that the traders face problems in all sectors. The problem of suffering is not just in the NBR and it cannot be solved in one day, he added.
“The biggest thing is, In some cases its one's problem and in some cases its a group's problem. However, we have to overcome this problem as a challenge”, he said.
The NBR Chairman said that although the Mongla customs house has been shifted to Mongla, the customs intelligence office is still in
Khulna. For this reason, the traders are still facing sufferings. The customs intelligence office will be shifted soon. he said.
In Mongla, the NBR chairman was accompanied by special guests Saiful Islam, a member of the National Board of Revenue (VAT administration), Abdul Mannan Shikadar and Khandaker Aminur Rahman, members (VAT audit).
Mongla Custom House Commissioner Md. Hossain Ahmed presided over the meeting held at the Custom House.
