On the occasion of Ashtami, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Cumilla, Md. Nazir Ahmed Khan, visited several Durga Puja mandaps in Cumilla Sadar and Sadar Dakkhin on Tuesday.
During his visit, he urged the public, especially the Hindu community, not to pay attention to rumours during Durga Puja, the most important religious festival for Sanatan believers.
He assured that the law enforcement agencies are on high alert and fully prepared to ensure peace and security throughout the celebrations.
Plainclothes police mobile teams have been deployed to monitor all mandaps continuously.
SP Nazir Ahmed Khan added that the police are ready to respond to any untoward incidents swiftly and effectively, and that there is a strong security presence across the district.
He emphasised the importance of unity and requested everyone to celebrate peacefully without fear or misinformation.
