A Virtual Seminar titled "Materials, Making and Memories" has been organized by the Material Lab of the Department of Architecture, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
The ceremony held on Tuesday was presided over by the Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture, Shri Kanu Kumar Das. The keynote speaker at the webinar was Assistant Professor Shuvro Das.
The main topics of discussion were the experience of using local construction materials, the use of bamboo in the two projects built for the Murang and Marma communities in Roma and Naikhyangchhari upazilas of Bandarban, and the combination of local construction style and modern construction style with the local community.
Speakers at the seminar said that such practical experience-rich discussions are very important for advancing future generations in the field of eco-friendly architecture in the current era of global warming. In order to be involved in such education dependent issues and work experience highlights relevant issues.
Renowned architect BidhanBarua and architect Rajan Das, Assistant Professor of NIT Jaipur Dr. Bhabna Srivastava spoke virtually at the seminar.
Architect SoumenBarua, Architect Vijay Talukder and students of the department were virtually attached to the seminar.
Also present at the seminar were Assistant Professor Mustafiz Al-Mamun, Assistant Professor Sajeeb Pal, Assistant Professor Debashree Mandal, Assistant Professor BiplobKanti Biswas, Lecturer Samira Binte Bashar, Assistant Professor Amit Imtiaz and Lecturer.
Later, keynote speaker Shuvro Das handed over flowers and certificates to Kanu Kumar Das, Head of the Department and Assistant Professor Tazia Rahman, Co-ordinator of Materials Lab.
