CUET celebrates World Water Day

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has celebrated World Water Day - 2022 with the slogan "Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible".

 A rally was held on Wednesday under the leadership of CUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam.  The rally started from the front of the Water Resources Strategy Department, went round the campus and ended in front of the administrative building.  During the Water Resources Strategy section, the students displayed placards with various slogans against pollution and waste of groundwater and surface water.

 The Vice Chancellor officially cut the cake on the occasion of World Water Day-2022 in the Academic Council Room of the University. CUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was the chief guest on the occasion.  Special guests were Prof. Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Faruk-uz-Zaman Chowdhury, Registrar (Additional Responsibilities), Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Director of Student Welfare.  It was presided over by Dr. Ayesha Akhter, Head, Department of Water Resources Strategy.  Department Lecturer Md. Mugdiul Islam conducted the program.  In addition, on the occasion of World Water Day, 17-18 May Mechanics Olympiads, poster presentations and seminars will be organized on the importance of groundwater.

It learned that water is another name for life.  Although 71% of the surface water, 97% is saline and% is drinkable.  And 3% of potable water contains 68.7% of standing ice and snow, 30.1% of groundwater, 0.3% of surface water and 0.9% of others.  Most of the people in our country live by drinking ground water.  Groundwater that is invisible.  That is why this time the theme is "Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible”
