Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Creation of new knowledge and public welfare research is the main work of a university.  CUET is contributing from its own position in the field of research.  CUET has been continuously working since its inception to build "Smart Bangladesh" in accordance with the government's Vision 2041.  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently inaugurated the country's first Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator at university level at CUET Campus.  We hope that the young generation will be able to take advantage of this incubator to lead the 4th Industrial Revolution.  I gratefully remember the contribution of all those who have played various roles in the progress of this university since its inception and who are tirelessly helping to continue the progress of CUET."

He said these while addressing a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of 20th University Day-2022 of CUET at the central auditorium of the university on Thursday.

Ekushey medallist poet and journalist Abul Momen said, “We are getting separated from nature.  Family ties are also loosening.  Technology has subjugated us.  Our society is being disrupted.  Social interaction is decreasing.

It has a negative impact on our social mind and psyche.  Not only have we entered the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, but we also have increased global temperatures, dramatic climate change, increased droughts, epidemics and floods.  Agriculture and food production have suffered.  Mankind and civilization are now facing a major crisis.  We have to think about it in the present reality.  Work on future technology and sustainable development.  We must not only be consumers of knowledge and innovation.  We also have to come into the role of creator.  That is why engineering society and scientists have to play a major role.  I believe CUET has the opportunity to create such skilled human resources.”

A joy rally was organized on the occasion of University Day.  CUET teachers, officers, employees and students participated in the rally with placards and festoons.  Later, a commemorative tree was planted on the north side of the EME building to commemorate the University Day.

Its mentioned that Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) made its debut as the only higher education institution of engineering and technology education and research in the south-eastern region of Bangladesh on September 1, 2003. The institution started as 'Chittagong Engineering College' on 28 December 1968 under the Faculty of Engineering of Chittagong University.  Later, on 1 July 1986, it was established as an autonomous.

CUET currently has about 6,200 students studying against 920 seats (total 931 seats including tribal quota) in 12 departments.  Apart from this, around 340 teachers, 160 officers and 435 employees, including 100 PhD holders, are working relentlessly

with the vow to take CUET forward as a family.
