‘CU teachers, students can walk freely on campus due to sacrifice of students, people’

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor (VC), Dr Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, said this day is a different day for us. The students and teachers got an opportunity to walk freely on the campus because of the new Bangladesh that was achieved through the sacrifice of the students and people.

He also said the parents can send their beloved children to Chittagong University (CU) without any fear.

The VC came up with the assertion at the red badge wearing programme held at CU central Shaheed Minar on Sunday morning during the first day of in-person class at the university.

 Pro VC (Academic) Dr Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan and Pro VC (Administration) Dr Md Kamal Uddin also spoke at the programme.

At the beginning of his speech, the VC of the university prayed for the salvation of the departed souls who were martyred during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and wished the fast recovery of the injured.

The VC said everything was in a disorderly and devastated condition in Chittagong University. After the current administration took charge, they took several swift initiatives in a short time. So, it became possible to start in-person classes after a long time.

He thanked and expressed his gratitude to the teachers who took charge in the university administration, students and parents, members of law enforcement agencies, print and electronic media journalists and all the people concerned. He sought cooperation from everyone.

Deans of various faculties of the university, registrars, hall provosts and residential teachers, chairmen of the departments, directors of institutes and research centers, CU examination controller, responsible teachers, proctors and assistant proctors, teachers of various departments and institutes and students were present at the programme.

 Associate Professor of Department of Communication and Journalism, Md Shahidul Haque, led the prayer for the fast recovery of the injured and the prosperity of the country. Abdur Rahman, a third-year student of Department of Islamic Studies of the university, moderated the programme.
