A seminar titled 'Bangabandhu Assassination: Current Bangladesh' was held at the CU Business Administration Faculty Auditorium on the initiative of Chittagong University Teachers Association on the occasion of National Mourning Day.

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shireen Akhtar was present as the chief guest in the seminar and CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Benu Kumar Dey was present as a special guest.

Mr Selina Hossain, president of Bangla Academy, Ekushey Medallist fiction writer, presented the paper in the seminar.  CU Teachers Association President Professor Dr Selina Akhtar presided over it.  The scheduled discussants in the seminar were Professor Ruhul Amin of CU Public Administration Department and Professor Dr Sekander Chowdhury of History and Culture Department of Chabi Islam.  The event was presided over by Professor Abdul Haque, Vice-President of CU Teachers' Association and Convener of Seminar Sub-Committee.  Professor Dr Sajib Kumar Ghosh, General Secretary of CU Teachers' Association, delivered the welcome speech at the seminar.

CU VC said, Bangabandhu's dream was to establish a non-sectarian, democratic, happy-prosperous Bangladesh.  When the father of the nation was going ahead with the right plan to fulfill his dream, the group of hyenas indulged in the heinous attempt to wipe the country called Bangladesh off the world map by killing the father of the nation with his family.  All these human beings have not fulfilled their desires, they themselves have been thrown into the dustbin as hateful pests of history.  Bangabandhu's daughter Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to fulfill the father of the nation's dream step by step.  Bangladesh has now achieved enviable success in the world in various indicators.  The CU Vice-Chancellor called on everyone to keep a watchful eye so that the progress of the Honourable Prime Minister is not disrupted in any way.

Renowned fiction writer Selina Hossain said, the month of August is the essence of grief and strength in the life of a Bengali.  Bangabandhu's physical death is a source of grief.  The immortality of Bangabandhu's philosophy and ideals is a fountain of energy.  The burning pain of losing him, the fountain of energy, the indestructible consciousness of future generations.  The strength to move forward in the being of Bengal and Bengalis.  In the sense that Bengal is known all over the world, there is no opportunity to say only geographically in this land.

She said, in the context of history, the Bengali nation has crossed the period waiting for the leadership of Bangabandhu for a long time.  He is the only leader of the subcontinent who has added an independent state to the map of the subcontinent.  7.5 crore Bengalis have dedicated themselves to this achievement.  The firmness of his leadership is imbued with an unforgettable sense of human love.  By killing Bangabandhu and his family members, some misguided people thought that instead of the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream, the fundamentalist and anti-independence forces would continue to hold state power in this country.  Despite hundreds of conspiracies and efforts, their dream did not materialize.  Instead, after twenty-one years of struggle, the pro-independence forces assumed state power.

She said that Bangabandhu's death day is a great sign of the truth of life over death.  As many leaders of the world are on the page of history with invincible motivation, so is Bangabandhu.  He is the saviour of Bengalis.  Bengalis were waiting for this saviour for thousands of years.  Bangabandhu made a new development in the prevailing current of Bengali civilization and culture.  The development of Bengali nationalism culminated in the establishment of an independent state.  The author mentions in his article, Bangabandhu committed the Bengali nation to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of all the people of the world.  From this promise, Bangabandhu's daughter, Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has taken the responsibility of the guardian as a guide for Bengalis to move forward in protesting human rights violations including Rohingya torture-oppression-genocide in Myanmar; The message of humanity has not been erased from the face of people of different ethnicities.  This is where the fuller form of Bangabandhu's UN address emerges.  The world is looking at Bangabandhu's Bangladesh.  Bangabandhu's assassination could not remove him from history.  Cannot in the future either.  Without him the name of Bangladesh will not be spoken.

Selina Hossain's husband, freedom fighter Anwar Hossain, members of CU Teachers' Association were present in the seminar.
