CU rewards 55 students, 9 researchers

Chittagong University Research and Higher Study Society (CURHS) has awarded the students who have received scholarships for higher education abroad from Chittagong University (CU) and those who have published research papers with the highest impact factor of the past year, on Sunday afternoon at the CU Engineering Faculty's virtual class room.  

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shireen Akhtar gave the memento as the chief guest.  CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey, CU Social Science Faculty Dean Prof. Siraj Ud Daullah, CU Registrar (Acting) Prof. SM Monirul Hasan spoke as special guests.

This year CU 55 students got scholarships in world renowned universities.  Besides, the number of research publications from Chittagong University has doubled to 550.

 CU VC said, 'We saw Jamal Nazrul sir;  He said to the scholarship students, "Millions of helpless people of this country dream of you.  You studied in this university with public money.  So no matter where you go in the world, do not forget about your responsibility to the people of the country.  Only young people like you can make Bangladesh respectable in the world.

  She said, 'I want to tell teachers and students that research drives the university forward;  Brightens our image. 

You research, discover new theories;  Publish in major journals.  Let us know if you are in financial trouble.  We will help you to the maximum.

 The teachers who published research papers with impact factor are Professor Dr. Mohammad Khairul Islam and Professor Dr. Farah Jahan of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Tarit Kumar Ball of the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Md. Atiyar Rahman of the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, Md. Ghiyas of the Department of Pharmacy.  Uddin, Professor of Anthropology Department Dr. Khadija Mitu, Professor of Human Resource Management Department Dr. Md Aftab Uddin, Marketing Department Dr. Shanto Banik, Institute of Marine Sciences Professor Dr. SM Sharifuzzaman.

 CU top 5 publishers in Scopus indexed journals are Saad Ahmed Sami of Pharmacy Department, Laki Dey of Chemistry Department, Sajib Rudra of Botany Department, Md Abdul Qayyum Khan of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Shagufta Mizan of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department and Isteak Ahmed Ruby of Fisheries Department, Genetic Engineering.  and Abu Tayeb Moin of the Department of Biotechnology.

 CU Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department Associate Professor Dr. Adnan Mannan and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department Assistant Professor Dr. Kazi Tanver Ahmed were the directors of the event.  Director of ICT Cell Professor Dr. Mohammad Khairul Islam, Dean of Engineering Faculty Professor Dr. Rashed Mostafa, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Mamun were present at the event.  CURHS Advisor and Moderator Dr. Moin Uddin, Prof. Dr. Alak Pal, Prof. Dr. Anjan Kumar Chowdhury, Dr. M. Shah Newaz Chowdhury and respected teachers-researchers and students of the University were also present.  The program was conducted by student Kaveri Das.
