CU chalks out month-long programme on Mujib Barsho

Authorities at the Chittagong University (CU) chalked out an elaborate programme throughout March on the occasion of Mujib Year. CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhtar unveiled the agenda of the month-long program at a press conference at a port city’ hotel on Sunday.

The programme began with offering special payers at mosques and feeding 100 orphans on March 1 seeking blessing for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A Wild Animals Festival will be held today. On the historic March 7, tributes will be paid to the Father of the Nation’s portrait on the university’s Bangabandhu premises followed by holding a discussion.

A Campus Cleaning Program will be organised on March 15 while fireworks will be lit on the night of March 16 to celebrate the countdown of Mujib Year. The next day’s programmes include holding rally, discussion, screening documentaries and film on Liberation War, inauguration of shuttle train.

A series of discussions on 'Life and Work of Bangabandhu' will be held at the university’s residential halls to highlight political philosophy of Bangabandhu between March 18 and 30. Besides, cultural programs on the Liberation War will be organised where songs composed by Bangabandhu will be performed.  

On March 26, a play on the 1971 Liberation War will be staged. Artist Rashid Chowdhury will paint the image of Bangabandhu with the participation of children and teenagers on the campus on March 31. Besides, seminars on 'Agriculture and Science Philosophy', Bangabandhu's' Work and Life' and 'Political Philosophy' will be held in addition to debate and quiz competition on life works of the Father of the Nation.

Deans of the university’s different faculties and other teachers  including KM Nur Ahmed, acting registrar of the CU, Prof. Dr. Sultan Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Sekander Chowdhury, Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque, Prof. Dr. Kazi SM Khasrul Alam Quddusi, Prof. SM Monirul Hasan were, among others, were present at the press conference.
