CU celebrates World Museum Day

World Museum Day has been celebrated on the CU campus at the initiative of Chittagong University Museum with the theme 'The Power of Museums',

 A discussion meeting was held in the exhibition room of the museum on Wednesday afternoon at the initiative of the museum.  Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shirin Akhter was present as the Chief Guest and CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey was present as the Special Guest.  Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahbubul Haque, Director of CU Museum presided over the function.  Former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Anthropology, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahibul Aziz was present as the keynote speaker. CU Vice Chancellor said that this International Day is celebrated with due importance by Chittagong University like other countries of the world.  The CU Museum is the only academic museum in Bangladesh. 

 This is the great pride of this university.

He said museums are the bearers and carriers of a country's history-tradition, culture.  The museum preserves the past history and heritage of a nation through which future generations find their identity.  A rich museum presents the rich history of a nation to future generations and the world.  In a rapidly changing world, museums play a vital role in bringing to light the history, traditions and culture of a nation.

 The event was attended by CU Registrar, teachers association leaders, presidents of various departments, directors of the institute, teachers and students.  The event was hosted by Mohammad Hossain, Assistant Registrar of CU Museum.  On the occasion of World Museum Day, a colorful rally was held under the leadership of CU Vice Chancellor.
