The keys of the houses built on the initiative of Chattogram Zilla Parishad were recently handed over to the homeless families as a gift from the Prime Minister marking the Mujib Barsho in the Mirsarai and Sitakunda upazilas of Chattogram.
Chattogram Zilla Parishad Chairman and Chattogram North District Awami League President MA Salam handed over the keys of the house.
MA Salam said the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was to fulfill the basic rights of all citizens like food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care etc. in independent Bangladesh. Bangladesh's progress under the leadership of the Prime Minister is being lauded all over the world. The Chittagong District Council is working to fulfill the promise made by Sheikh Hasina to build houses for all the homeless of Mujib year. All capable individuals and organizations should be involved in this great initiative.
Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Shabbir Iqbal, Senior Assistant Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam, Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Minhazur Rahman, Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahadat Hossain and others were present.
It may be mentioned that Chattogram Zilla Parishad is implementing a project to build houses for 50 homeless families of the district (there is no land but no house) as a gift of the Prime Minister in the centenary of Mujib year. Under this project, construction of 50 houses in 15 upazilas and metropolis of the district is nearing completion. The construction cost including one tube well for each house has been estimated at Tk 5,68,848.
