Chattogram District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Masud Alam has directed law enforcement agencies to strengthen surveillance against fake currency syndicates, “Molom Party” activities ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.
He also instructed all police stations and traffic units in the district to remain on maximum alert to prevent highway robberies and ensure the safe movement of homebound travelers during the Eid rush.
He directives while addressing a monthly coordination meeting held at the conference room of the Chattogram District Police Superintendent’s Office on Tuesday.
Speaking at the meeting, SP Md. Masud Alam said criminal activities tend to increase ahead of Eid festivals. He emphasized the need for intensified intelligence surveillance to identify and arrest members of fake currency gangs, Molom Party and Oggyan Party groups. He also stressed increasing highway patrols to ensure passenger safety and smooth travel during the holiday period.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening beat policing and community policing activities. Officials said stronger engagement between police and local communities would help build public trust and make crime prevention efforts more effective at the grassroots level.
During the meeting, the overall law and order situation in the district, ongoing anti-crime drives and the progress of important cases at different police stations were reviewed. The Police Superintendent instructed officers to improve the quality of investigations, execute arrest warrants more effectively, intensify drives against drugs and illegal arms, and take stronger measures to prevent theft and robbery.
Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of all 17 police stations in the district, circle officers and other senior police officials attended the meeting.
