Ctg road crash kills 2

Two people were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Nizampur area of Mirsarai in Chattogram. At least 4 others were injured.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Shahjahan, 60, son of late Narul Islam resident of Ichhamati village under Wahedpur union of Mirsarai upazila and Shamsuddin Didar, 50, son of Safiul Alam resident of Gachbaria village under the same union of Mirsarai.

Sources said that the accident took place when a Chattogram-bound human hauler was hit by a speeding covered van at around 10am on Thursday, leaving six people injured critically.

The injured were rushed to hospital. Two of the injured died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 12 noon.

Police sources and the chairman of the local Wahedpur Union Parishad (UP) said that the accident took place when a covered van knocked a human hauler in the area. 

Six people including a pedestrian were injured in the accident. Locals rescued the injured and took them to CMCH. 

Didar and Shahjahan died while undergoing treatment at around 12 noon.

Kumira Highway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Biplob Shah said, “Locals and relatives rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the hospital before police reached the spot. I do not know the cause of death.”

However, Fazlul Kabir Firoz, chairman of the Wahedpur Union Parishad in Mirsarai, confirmed the matter and said, “Two people from my area, Didar and Shahjahan, died in the accident.”
