The operational activities of Chattogram Port have started after the effect of Cyclone 'Mocha' has passed.  The Chattogram Port Authority said that ships sent to outer anchorage will arrive in the morning to avoid damage.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Omar Faruq confirmed this information on Sunday night.

He said, we were ready from the beginning.  There was no problem anywhere in the port during the cyclone.  Port operations have started in full swing as the Meteorological Office has asked to display local warning signal number 3.  Tomorrow morning (Monday) the ships sent out at outer anchorage will start arriving at the port jetty. After that, their redemption process will begin.

Earlier, the Chattogram Port Authority had issued 'Alert-4' as a maximum precaution to avoid possible damage due to the impact of Cyclone Mocha on Friday night.  Besides, the ships in the jetty were moved to outer anchorage under the direction of the port.  Along with this, the Chattogram Port Authority launched four control rooms to prevent the possible impact and damage of the very strong cyclone Mocha.

Earlier on the afternoon of May 12, 'Alert-2' was issued at Chattogram port due to the impact of Cyclone Mocha.

This signal was issued internally by the Port Authority in view of signal number 4 given by the Meteorological Office.  Lighter vessels were sent to safe harbour from Sadarghat towards Karnaphuli Shah Amanat bridge area.
