Due to the ongoing flood situation, transportation of cargo containers of import-export through Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram highway and the train route is being hampered. Chattogram Port Authority has given the opportunity to transport containers on the river route in order to resume import and export. National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) are prepared to provide overall assistance in this regard.
The matter was confirmed through a press release on Sunday night.
The press release said the importers and exporters are being forced to slow or halt container transportation through Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram highway and the train route in many cases due to the ongoing flood situation. The import and export of the country is being obstructed because of the situation that has arisen.
Taking the matter into consideration, the people concerned are requested to use Pangaon Inland Container Terminal in order to accelerate the import-export of the country by using the Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram river route. NBR is prepared to provide overall assistance in this regard.
Pangaon Inland Container Terminal can be used to transport import-export cargo containers. Enough inland ships of various shipping companies and all types of logistic facilities of Chattogram Port are kept ready for this operation.
In this situation, all importers and exporters, including BGMEA and BKMEA, are requested to take necessary measures for collecting and shipping import-export cargo containers from Chattogram Port through Pangaon Inland Container Terminal.
