Ctg port dev council to work for country

Chittagong Port Development and Research Parishad hopes to accelerate port development, to reduce the cost of import-export and container cargo handling, and further enrich the country's economy.

Commodore (Retd) Jobayer Ahmed, President of newly formed committee of the organization said this at a function held at the KB Abdus Sattar auditorium of Chittagong City Corporation in Anderkilla of Chattogram city on Saturday.

He said the aim and objective of the committee is to give various suggestions to the port administration and the government through various research data related to the port. This committee will assist the government and the port, work voluntarily and not from a political platform. He who has talent will help us with various suggestions.

Speakers on the occasion said, “In order to improve the port city the roads of Chattogram need to be developed. If the water problem is solved, it is possible to develop the city. The canals are not being dredged. If we want to develop Chittagong port and the city together, we have to eliminate water logging. Moreover, Karnafhuli is getting filled day by day. If we can save Karnafhuli, the selfishness of this organization will be known”.

Former Member (Finance) of Chittagong Port Authority Mosharraf Hossain, Vice-President of the organization Ibrahim Hossain Babul, General Secretary Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Khan, Research Development Secretary Engineer Abduch Chhabur, Information and Technology Affairs Secretary Salimullah Khan, Member Ataur Rahman Khan spoke. Senior journalists M Nasirul Haque, Jasim Chowdhury Sabuj, Abu Jafar Azad, Professor Idris Ali and others attended the programme.
