Ctg police honours 392 freedom fighters

A total of 392 retired freedom fighter policemen have been honored in Chattogram on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Crests and gifts were handed over to 85 freedom fighters at a function at District Police Lines Civic Center at Halishahar in the port city on Sunday afternoon. Besides, 307 freedom fighters were given crests and gifts at upazila level. Chattogram Range DIG of police Md Anwar Hossain was the chief guest at the reception programme with Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chattogram SM Rashidul Haque in the chair. One-minute silence was observed at the function in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the liberation war in 1971. 

Satkania Upazila Freedom Fighter Commander Md Abu Taher, Mirsarai Upazila Freedom Fighter Commander Kabir Ahmed, Police Freedom Fighter Additional Superintendent of Police (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Police Freedom Fighter Inspector (Retd.) Md. Abul Bashar reminisced about their adventures during the Liberation War.
