Chattogram Customs House has approved the sale of 34 of the 108 luxury vehicles imported through the Chattogram Port for tourism (Carnet the Passage).  Delivery Orders (DO) have already been issued in favour of the highest bidder and re-auction the remaining 74 vehicles.

The 34 vehicles in the auction include Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Toyota Land Cruiser, BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Lexus, Range Rover, brand cars.  The highest bid price of the vehicles was Tk 61 lakh 15 thousand 700.

Ali Reza Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Customs House, confirmed the information on Thursday.

According to Chattogram Customs House sources, an emergency meeting of the auction house was held at Chattogram Customs on June 27.  The meeting directed to approve the auction of 34 vehicles and re-auction the remaining 74 vehicles.  The sale order of 34 vehicles was issued on July 5 after receiving a no-objection letter from the customs branch.  The delivery order was issued on July 6 in favour of the highest bidder.

Ali Reza Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Customs House, said the sale price of 34 vehicles was Tk 9 crore 28 lakh 2 thousand 200.  But we sold the cars for Tk 61 lakh 15 thousand 700.  Chattogram Customs has collected clearance permits from the Ministry of Commerce to sell the auctioned vehicles on its own initiative.  So the buyer does not have to take a new clearance permit.
