Ctg Customs plans to destroy 382 container products

Chattogram Customs Authority has decided to destroy 382 containers of perishable goods imported through Chattogram port which have not been cleared for a long time.

The matter has been confirmed in the press release sent by the Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Customs that the destruction of these products will be carried out from this Sunday morning.  The containers will be destroyed as per the decision of the August 29 meeting of the committee constituted as per the order issued by the National Board of Revenue.

It includes demolition of 382 containers in 111 lots (136 reefer, 32 dry and 214 dry containers of various offdocks) at Chittagong port.  According to customs sources, there is a plan to destroy 25-30 containers of goods per day as all the products in these containers are non-auctionable and expired.

 A committee of 9 members has been formed by the Chattogram Custom House Authority to manage the destructible activities.  Chattogram Custom House Joint Commissioner Md Musfiqur Rahim has been convened.  The members of the committee are Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate nominated by Chattogram District Commi­ssioner, One Assistant Superinten­dent of Police nominated by Police Depart­ment, One nominated representative of Chattogram Port Authority, One nominated representative of BGB Assistant Director level, One nominated representative of Directorate of Environment, Fire Service and Civil Defence of Chattogram.  A nominated representative, a representative nominated by the Chattogram City Corporation.  

Santosh Saren, Deputy Commissioner of Auction Branch of Custom House, is the member secretary of this committee.

 These include onion, ginger, apple, pomegranate, dragon fruit, orange, coriander, grape, kalanji, frozen lizard fish, boneless buffalo meat, wheat bran, fish meal, bulk grains, salt, garlic, sunflower oil, black horse drink and coffee.  Products will be destroyed.
