An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) succumbed to injuries after being stabbed by rivals in Bakalia area of Chattogram on Friday morning.
Ashikur Rahman Rohit, a first-year student of MES College of the city, was critically injured following stab injuries during an election campaign.
Ashikur and the alleged killers were both supporters of Awami League nominated Pashchim Bakalia ward councillor candidate Md Shahidul Alam.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia Police Station Nezam Uddin said he was stabbed on January 8 evening at Dewanbazar area over previous enmity. The victim and the killers both are supporters of Shahidul Alam and few days ago a brawl ensued between them over anti-drug posters in their area, he added.
OC Nezam also said that locals Mohiuddin, Babu and Sabu called Ashik tactfully from Chawakbazar DC road area and later stabbed him on January 8 at about 5:30 pm. He was later admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where he died on Friday, said the OC.
Police were trying to arrest the killer. Victim's brother Jahidur Rahman filed a case in this connection. The body was sent to CMCH morgue for autopsy.
