Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Patient Daughters Association works to ensure medical care for patients from different parts of the country and help helpless patients.
This time Chattogram-9 Constituency Member of Parliament and Education Deputy Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel has donated 10 lakh taka in that effort.
He handed over the donation to Brigadier General Mohammad Shamim Ahsan, president of the association and director of the hospital, and general secretary and social service officer Abhijit Saha on behalf of the late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury Foundation at his Chashma Hill residence in the city on Tuesday morning.
Nawfel said, when I went to CMC Hospital for the Patient Welfare Association function, a person named Kazi Muhammad Ali donated his hard-earned Tk 50 lakh to the Patient Welfare Association for the treatment of cancer patients under 18 years of age.
He did not even eat lunch many times during his working life while saving this money.
Seeing this great initiative of his, I was inspired and decided to donate some small amount to the Patient Welfare Society.
Hon'ble Prime Minister Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has instructed the leaders and workers of our party to stand by the people in calamities. I feel that by giving this donation I have also fulfilled the instructions of Bangabandhu's daughter.
He said that people from different classes and professions of the society will come forward for the welfare of the common people along with the rich people with enthusiasm for this donation.
And through this, if public-private partnership is created, the pressure on the government will be reduced a lot and the common people will benefit a lot.
