As a result, the people of Cox's Bazar have now to rely solely  on some 120 Rural Medical Practitioners.  It is learnt, after the Coronavirus spread, private hospitals at upazila headquarters and several places were opened, but hospitals were running without specialist doctors. As a result, ppatients who have been suffering from various diseases, are failing to consult any specialist physician.

There I shall rather consult to rural doctor. Asha Rahim Ullah from Maheshkhali to came to consult a doctor in Cox's Bazar, said, "No doctor wants to talk to the patient at the hospital after hearing about fever and cough." As a result, I am now returning to my village.

Cox's Bazar Union Hospital Chairman Ariful Mawla said, "Our hospital is open all the time. No patient was coming because of a communication problem. But most of the doctors were out of Cox's Bazar, he said.

Dr Chandan Kanti Das, President of the Cox's Bazar Village Doctors Association, said nearly 125 village doctors or rural practioners are providing  services to the people in the district. “We are always ready to assist the government,” he said.  But he thinks the safety of the doctors needs to be taken into consideration.
