The mayor-elect of Cox's Bazar Municipality, Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury asked the illegal occupants to vacate the municipal property before he takes over as mayor.
He said those who are constructing structures encroaching municipal drains should vacate their illegal occupation as soon as possible.
He warned the illegal occupiers and said, “I will start the eviction drive against the illegal occupiers immediately after taking charge.” This is my old work. And those who will give up possession I will honour them in the municipality after taking charge.
Newly elected Mayor Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury made these remarks during a views exchange with journalists at Cox's Bazar Press Club on Tuesday night.
Former President of Cox's Bazar Press Club Badiul Alam, General Secretary of Cox's Bazar Press Club Mujibul Islam, Journalist Mohammad Ali Jinnat spoke under the chairmanship of Cox's Bazar Press Club and CBUJ President Abu Taher Chowdhury and moderated by CBUJ General Secretary Zaheed Sarwar Sohel.
In addition to senior journalists, print and electronic media journalists working in Cox's Bazar were also present.
Newly elected mayor Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury sought the cooperation of journalists during his duties in the municipality.
