The hotels, motels and guest houses in the tourist city of Cox's Bazar have opened on conditions from Thursday. However, room booking cannot be given to anyone without urgent need.

Meanwhile, the tourist centers of Cox's Bazar, including the sea beach, will remain completely closed.

Alike the rest of the country, all the tourist spots in Cox's Bazar along with the hotels, motels and guest houses in the tourist areas were declared closed on April 1 this year for the spread of corona virus. Since then, the hotels motels have remained closed.

The district administration announced the opening of hotels, motels and guest houses in the wake of a decision by a meeting of the Cox's Bazar District Corona Prevention Committee. In this context, the hotels and motels were opened from Thursday. However, it is not for tourists in any way.

Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Dr Mamunur Rashid said hotels, motels and guest houses have been opened conditionally in response to the demand for livelihood of tourism-related people.

A monitoring committee has been formed to implement the hygiene rules. This committee has given necessary directions to the hotel and motel authorities. If there is any deviation in the implementation of the guidelines, the monitoring committee will close the hotel and motel again, he added.

The DC also added that the tourism sector in Cox's Bazar was closed due to the increase in corona infection. But after analyzing all the trials, a limited range of hotels, motels and guest houses were opened from Thursday.

The hotel and motel authorities are more challenged than the police-administration in implementing the hygiene rules after opening. Everyone must work together to address this challenge. Promises must be kept. You have to do business without risking your own life and the lives of others. We all live together safely. Cox's Bazar Additional District Magistrate Md Abu Sufian said the conditions accepted to ensure hygiene were that no tourist could book a room for sightseeing purposes. Only 50% room booking can be given.

The restaurant will be closed without room service. No room can be rented to anyone except in an emergency. The swimming pool will be closed.

In addition to that, no food can be eaten sitting in restaurants inside the hotel, no meeting or seminar can be held inside the hotel. Disinfectant spray and temperature measurement should be arranged at the entrance of the hotel. Hand sanitizer should be provided in all rooms including lobby, he added.

Moreover, the whole hotel has to ensure 100% health rules. Violation of the conditions will be brought under punishment.
