Cox’s Bazaar abuzz with tourists

The sea beaches of Cox's Bazaar have been thronged with huge number of tourists as the holiday day makers rushed there during the three-day of public holiday.

As a special attraction, the tourists are also enjoying various programmes of the weeklong Beach carnival. However, many tourists have also complained of realising excess hotel rent. Special security measures have also been taken to ensure the safety of the tourists. 

It is learnt, with the holiday of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi on Thursday and the government holidays on Friday and Saturday, the government job holders are enjoying three days of leave in the week. And there has been a huge turnout of tourists in Cox's bazaar during the continuous three days of leave. 

Meanwhile, Cox's Bazar district Administration has organised a weeklong Beach Carnival at the Laboni Point of the beach in observance of World Tourism Day. Friday carnival was marked by the Kite festival, boat rally, Circus, subjectwise discussion meeting and cultural function. 

Tourist Shymol Bhoumik who came from Dhaka at Laboni Point informed the room he rented for Tk 2,000 during the last visit for a night is  charged Tk 5,000 this time. 

Sadia, Bubli and Shahin, tourists from Khulna, informed, they arrived in Cox's Bazaar to enjoy the prolonged leave. Though the price including food and room rent is very exorbitant, they were enjoying the Beach Carnival organised by the district administration.

However, even after the announcement of offering of special discounts in various hotels, motels and restaurants on the occasion of the Beach Carnval, there are allegations of not offering such discounts and the district administration of Cox's Bazaar conducted a special drive at the local hotels and motels on Friday afternoon. 

Bivishan Kanti Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazaar who conducted the operation informed the hotels and restaurants that were charging excessive money were warned by the administration. Tk. 30,000 was realised as fine from a hotel under the Consumers Rights Act. 

Mohammad Yeamin, Additional District Magistrate and Convener of the Parjatan Fair informed there are various stalls at the fair. The Beauty Circus started on Friday evening. Moreover, a boat rally was held in Maheshkhali-Cox's Bazaar naval route.

Zillur Rahman, SP of Tourists' Police of Cox's Bazaar region informed, special measures have been taken to ensure the safety and security of the tourists. 

Shahin Imran, Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazaar informed, many hotels were charging excessive rent which is not acceptable. A Weeklong Beach Carnival has been arranged to promote Tourism. These are all arranged for them but they can not understand that.
