Cows distributed among Jhenaidah women

Seven tender aged female cows were distributed among some women in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning. Non-governmental organization JAGO organized the programme on Jhenaidah Sadar upazila parishad premises with the assistance of Bangladesh NGO Foundation. 

Objective of the programme was to make the rural women self-helped with an income generation activities for their survival and socio-economic development.

Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin, uazila parishad vice chairman Rashidur Rahman Rasel, JAGO executive committee president Nurul Islam, executive director Sazzadul Sharif, Paglakanai Union Parishad reserves seat women seat member Shefali Khatun among others present. 

The organisers said a total of seven distressed women received the female species of tender aged cows free of cost for their income generation activities for survival and strengthen their socio-economic state. All the women earlier had received skill training on cow rearing from the organization, they said.

UNO SM Shahin in his speech as the chief guest said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to make each and every woman self-helped towards a just society equal for men and women as they are the part and parcel of the society. 

There is no alternative without the direct participation of the women community in any development activities, he said. 

The men should extend their hands towards the good job for the women considering the need of the society as the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman had dreamed off, UNO said.
