Covid vaccine distribution plan in motion in Ctg

Chattogram administration has already started the process of distributing Coronavirus vaccine after its arrival in the country. A 14-member committee has been formed at the initiative of Chattogram City Corporation in this regard.

Health officials in Chattgram said when the vaccines arrive the frontline fighters would be given priority on the vaccine distribution list. A committee headed by Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Administrator met on January 3 to discuss the whole process of corona vaccine distribution.  

The work plan has already been determined. Besides, district and upazila level committees formed for providing vaccines will be activated soon, Health Officials informed.

Health Department sources said the work of making an app for Covid-19 vaccine distribution in currently underway. In order to get the corona vaccine through app one would have to register with the national identity card number. The distribution of vaccines will be announced in advance.

Chattogram Divisional Director of Health Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir said the dying and elderly patients, including front line fighters would be given priority in the vaccine distribution list.

According to government instructions, in addition to the front liners those with disabilities, the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases will also be given the vaccine on priority basis, he added.

He further said that work is underway to prepare a list of people who will get the vaccine first.  The finalized list has to be sent to the ministry.  Besides, training for the health workers will be arranged too.

CCC Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan said there were instructions to keep the NGOs working on Corona situation, on the committee.  There is also a guideline on who will get the vaccine.  The ministry has asked for a list to be submitted to them by January 10.  All information including NID numbers of the people to get vaccine first will be sent to the PM's office and a database will be created there.

The CCC administrator added a technical team would be formed to oversee vaccine management including Chittagong Divisional Health Director, Chief Health Officer of CCC and two medical specialists from Chittagong Medical College Hospital.  They will give advice on how to store the vaccine and inspect the vaccine distributing sites.
