In the last 24 hours, 10 people died in the Covid-19 unit of the Kushtia general hospital. Officials said that 7 people died of corona and 3 more died with corona symptoms
Kushtia General Hospital Supervisor Dr. MA Momen on Friday confirmed this information to the media. A record number of patients with Covid-19 symptoms were hospitalized in Kushtia from last week.
Till Friday, the number of patients stood at 243. Of these, 190 are infected with Covid-19 and 53 more patients with corona symptoms are reported to be undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, Covid-19 has been wreaking havoc in Kushtia district throughout June.
In just 30 days of June, more than 3 thousand Covid-19 patients have been identified in Kushtia district. The total number of identified people in the district so far is 6,017. There are 204 people undergoing treatment and 2,149 people in home isolation in the district.
Kushtia General Hospital has been declared as Covid dedicated hospital in the town. A total of 243 patients were seen receiving treatment in the Covid-19 unit. Among them, 190 were diagnosed with Covid-19 and 53 patients were admitted with Covid-19 symptoms.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 infection rate spike up in last 2 weeks at Kushtia. A total of 3072 people were tested Covid-19 positive in last 30 days. 99 people as of now died of Covid-19 in June where the total death count of the district is 218.
Kushtia Civil Surgeon Dr HM Anwarul Islam said that the authorities were prepared for adverse condition created by Covid-19. But they did not have the idea that the virus would create that amount of death toll. As locals in the district were lees careful about hygiene regulation and using masks, community transmission is being seen in the district due to that. The only way to overcome this situation is to strictly follow the hygiene regulation.
Meanwhile, 137 new patients were identified against 342 tests at PCR lab. The infection rate is 40.05%. By far, the total number of infected people in the district is 8187.
A total of 61 people from Kushtia town, 27 people from Doulatpur upazila, 13 people from Kumarkhali upazila, 16 people from Veramara upazila, 13 people from Mirpur upazila, 7 people from Khoksha upazila have been tested Covid-19 positive in Thursday.
